Veer Bahadur Singh (VBS) Purvanchal University is a higher educational institution of academic excellence in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Functioning under the state government, the University is affiliating in nature and has a large number of institutions under its umbrella, spread over the eastern part of the state. Erstwhile known as Purvanchal University, the University was renamed in the honor of Late Shri Veer Bahadur Singh, former Chief Minister of the state. With an array of technical and professional facilities on the campus, VBS Purvanchal University has grown to become one of the most prominent universities in India.

Educational Streams

The University renders high standard education in both traditional and professional streams through its various departments and affiliated colleges. It encompasses undergraduate and post graduate courses in the fields of Management, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Applied Psychology, Environmental Science and various others. Furthermore, the University has 367 affiliated graduate and postgraduate colleges, spread across five districts of the state.

Facilities

Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University boasts of state-of-the-art campus, equipped with world-class amenities. One of the most important necessities for smooth education is the inviting ambience. In addition, the University has well furnished hostels for both boys and girls in the premises for the convenience of outstation students. It also has a sports and fitness centre, apart from other facilities.

History

The University was established on October 2, 1987 as an affiliating university under U.P. State University Act, 1973 under the name of Purvanchal University. It was later renamed as Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University after Late Shri Veer Bahadur Singh, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Over the period of time, the University has emerged as a renowned name in the list of Indian universities.
