Dayalbagh Educational Institute

Situated at Dayalbagh, in Agra city of Uttar Pradesh, Dayalbagh Educational Institute (DEI) is a pioneering educational institution in the region. Since its inception, it has been excelling in educational forum by imparting quality education in the faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce, Education, Social Science, Technical Science, etc. Established in 1973 in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the University has grown with leaps and bounds to become one of the best centers of imparting academic excellence with several other ideals of life. After formulating an innovative and comprehensive programme of undergraduate studies, DEI got the recognition from the Government of Uttar Pradesh and University Grants Commission. It is also conferred with the status of an institution Deemed to be a University by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

 

Educational Streams

Dayalbagh Educational Institute aims at producing able technical and non-technical professionals possessing apt knowledge and necessary skills. The university imparts innovative educational system through a comprehensive, integrated and inter-disciplinary education scheme. It emphasizes on a unique approach towards education and provides a vibrant teaching and learning environment. Various undergraduate, post graduate, research, diploma and certificate programmes are offered in different faculties, namely, Arts, Commerce, Education, Engineering, Science, Social Sciences and Technical Sciences. In addition, it also provides several innovative integrated PG programmes in a varied number of subjects. Besides, DEI has expanded its horizon of need based education through distance education programmes.

The institute has excellent infrastructure for academic activities, sports and other extra-curricular activities. The infrastructure includes lecture halls, well equipped laboratories, science and instrumentation centre, separate hostels for boys & girls and other facilities, including gymnasium, playground, non-resident student centre and good medical & health care. History

The University was established as a co-educational middle school on January 1, 1917 as Radhasoami Educational Institute, run by a managing committee, registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. Within five years of its inception, the school was upgraded to a High School and to an intermediate college in 1922 and finally a degree college in 1947, affiliated to Agra University. At the same time, a technical school and girls’ school was started which later developed into a technical college and an intermediate college, respectively. Later, several other colleges like Women’s Training College and an engineering college were added to the chain of educational institutions in Dayalbagh. Finally in 1973, a registered body named Dayalbagh Educational Institute was formed to unite all the institutes of Dayalbagh and bring them under one roof along with the School of Comparative Study of Religion, School of Languages, and Schools of Art & Culture.
