One of the most prominent institutes for agricultural studies in India, Institute of Agricultural Sciences is located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The institute offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate level courses under the concern of Banaras Hindu University (BHU). It has eleven departments (Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Entomology and Agricultural Zoology, Extension Education, Farm Engineering, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Horticulture, Mycology and Plant Pathology, Plant Physiology, Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry) and conducts its courses from both the campuses of the University (Varanasi & Barkachha). Admission Procedure and Eligibility:

Undergraduate:
Candidates who have passed 10+2 or any other equivalent examination in Science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) from a recognized Board / College are eligible to apply. In addition, they have to appear in All India Entrance Test, conducted by BHU.

Post Graduate:
Those who have passed bachelor degree examination in agriculture or any stream with Botany as one of the subjects are eligible to apply. However, they should appear in PET (Postgraduate Entrance Test), conducted by BHU.
Doctorate:
Aspirants should possess master degree in agriculture or botany from a recognized University / College. In addition, one has to appear in CRET (Common Research Entrance Test), conducted by the University.
