School of Humanities and Social Sciences was established in the academic year 2009-10 with the objective of providing need based teaching, training and research in the areas of humanities and social sciences. The School conducts post graduate and advanced research programmes in many subjects related to science, language, literature, social work, technology, management and media. Besides, it imparts a couple of other non-regular programmes through eight distinguished departments, namely, Department of English & Modern European Languages; Department of Indian Languages & Literature; Department of Mass Communication & Media Studies; Department of Economics, Planning & Development; Department of Education & Training; Department of History & Civilization; Department of Political Science & International Relations; and Department of Psychology & Wellbeing.

Admission Procedure and Eligibility:
Post Graduate:One should possess Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any recognized University / Institute with at least 50% marks (40% for SC/ST) to be eligible to apply. Doctorate: Students who have completed post graduation in the relevant discipline (as decided by the concerned School) with at least 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST) from any University / Institution established by law can apply.
