Description:
Institute of Social Sciences, a constituent unit of Dr B R Ambedkar University, was established with the very inception of the University. Previously functioning under the then Agra University, the institute consists of three different departments, namely, Sociology, Social Work and Statistics. The Department of Statistics, functioning under the institute, is recognized as the second oldest in Uttar Pradesh and third in North India. Currently, Institute of Social Sciences conducts several post graduate and research programmes in Statistics, Social Work and Sociology. The institute is well equipped with all modern educational amenities for imparting high standard teaching and research programmes.

Admission Procedure and Eligibility:
Post Graduate:Graduates from a recognized University in any discipline with minimum 50% marks are eligible to apply for MA (Sociology) / MSW courses. However, graduates with Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects with at least 45 % marks are eligible to apply for Master’s in Statistics programme. Doctorate: M Phil: Candidates with Master’s degree in the relevant subject are eligible to apply. PhD: Candidates who have pursued Master’s or M Phil programme in subjects concerned are eligible.
