Institute of Home Science was established as Institute of Household Art and Home Science in 1968 under the huge umbrella of Dr B R Ambedkar University. The institute got its present name in 1980 as per the suggestions of University Grants Commission (UGC). The institute comprises of five distinguished departments, such as Department of Home Science Education and Extension, Department of Foods and Nutrition, Department of Child Development, Department of Clothing & Textiles and Department of Home Management. Institute of Home Science conducts several undergraduate, post graduate and research programmes in home science. The institute equips the students with best of study curriculum, coupled with multi-disciplinary approach to translate theoretical knowledge into practice and enhance their skills for better placement opportunities.

Admission Procedure and Eligibility:
Undergraduate:Candidates who have completed Intermediate / 10+2 in any discipline with minimum 45% marks (40% for SC/ST) can apply. Post Graduate: Students, who have obtained B H Sc / B Sc (Home Science) with at least 50% marks from a recognized University, are eligible to apply. Doctorate: Candidates who have pursued M H Sc in the subject concerned can apply for the doctoral programme.
