Description:
Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), located in the capital city of Lucknow, in Uttar Pradesh, is a premiere research institute dedicated towards research and teaching in the field of biomedicine. Functioning under the flagship of the well-known Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), CDRI was founded on February 17, 1951 by the then first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. CDRI Lucknow conducts post master PhD programmes in inter-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary areas of life sciences / biotechnology chemical / pharmaceutical sciences in an intellectually vibrant atmosphere of research. Besides, the institute runs various Advance Training Courses for postgraduate students and employees of R&D institutions / pharmaceutical industry / Government laboratories etc. The courses comprise both lectures and practical exposure by highly qualified and experienced scientists with special emphasis on practical R&D aspects in a particular discipline sponsored by industries, academia and research institutions from all over the country and abroad.

Admission Procedure and Eligibility:
Doctorate:Candidates who have pursued M Sc or its equivalent in Life Sciences / Biotechnology / Chemical / Pharmaceutical Sciences from a recognized University to be eligible for PhD programmes in different subjects. In addition, candidates who have qualified in CSIR-UGC-NET, ICMR, DBT examination for Junior Research Fellowship are also eligible to apply for the PhD programmes. Those who are GPAT qualified second year, 3rd semester students continuing MS (Pharm) or M Pharm in Pharmaceutical / Pharmacology disciplines can also apply for GATE-JRF positions tenable at CDRI.
