Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, situated in the most picturesque surroundings of the capital city of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, provides a highly conducive environment for academic pursuit in the field of law. It presently conducts a five year integrated programme - BA LLB (Hons), two year post graduate programme - LLM , doctoral course - PhD and such other programmes, approved by the Executive Council on the recommendation of the Academic Council. The University conducts quality legal education which incorporates legal aspects with an incisive and practical understanding of law. The programmes offered here develop the required skills and core competencies of legal education.

Established by an Act of Uttar Pradesh, UP Act No. 28 2005, in 2005, Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University actually started functioning from January 4, 2006. Initially named as Dr Manohar Lohiya National Law Institute, it was later embodied as Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University vides an amendment in the Act in November 2006 and labeled as the first national law school of the country.
